Mast Group Ltd. are looking to recruit an Account Manager on a permanent basis.
Mast Group Ltd. is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of medical diagnostics products for the diagnosis of infectious disease. Our products are used throughout the UK and worldwide. The job holder will an integral part of the team, ensuring our processes and procedures are adhered to in all they do and leading a team of purchasing officers.
We require an Account Manager to join our team within a multi-disciplined environment working within the field. Applicants must be based on territory, and willing to travel as this sales area covers a large geographical area. The role will require, at times, overnight stays to ensure the opportunities in the territory are to be fully exploited, the ideal candidate will be based in the Leeds – Nottingham – Northampton Region (M1 Corridor).
THE ROLE
- To manage a core territory as determined by the Sales Manager so that agreed sales and profitability targets are delivered.
- To attain annual sales to pre-defined sales targets within the territory by both growing the number of products sold to each customer and growing the number of customers.
- To produce accurate, reliable market information in order to determine the potential profitability of the introduction of new products.
- To communicate market intelligence on customer needs and competitor activity.
- Work closely and in conjunction with other departments within Mast including Marketing, R&D and Customer Services
- To own, manage, keep up to date and ensure all appropriate databases are accurate. This particularly includes the CRM system.
- To rigorously comply with all appropriate procedural documents
- To pro-actively develop, monitor and manage customer accounts.
- To pro-actively network with customers and prospects at specialist meetings, forums, presentations etc
- To be pro-active for quotation opportunities, in managing electronic quotes and invitation to tenders (ITT). To ensure such quotations and ITTs are responded to within the appropriate deadlines and standards.
- To attend exhibitions and demonstration as required.
- To deliver territory-based sales campaigns and achieve the planned new sales
- To contribute to being a member of a highly motivated sales team by actively networking within the team and actively participating in all sales and company events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- BSc in BMS or molecular biology
- Work in NHS or equivalent health service diagnostic laboratory as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Microbiologist or molecular biologist
- Achievement orientated - ability to set and achieve goals.
- Good analytical skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Highly motivational and self-motivated
- Excellent organisational skills
- Empathetic and objective approach to customer and market needs and the ability to offer solutions to customer’s problems
- Excellent team player
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, - face-to-face – written – good telephone manner.
- Possess a current valid driving license
- Educated to degree level in a life science discipline – preferably microbiology.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Good understanding of clinical laboratory diagnostic methodologies – practical experience of working in a microbiology laboratory an advantage.
- Good PC application knowledge to include Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience in writing and maintaining formal documentation such as quotations, process documents an advantage.
- Ideally a minimum of three years’ experience in selling to the UK hospital laboratory diagnostic market
- Experience in responding to and winning formal tenders an advantage.
- Experience in key/major accounts management/development an advantage.
- Experience of using suitable systems for stock management.
- Experience of managing supply chain risks.
- ISO Standards Experience.
In addition to the specified duties the employee is expected to perform additional tasks when reasonably called upon to do so.
