MAST ISOPLEX® kits utilise loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology for the amplification of nucleic acid and contain lyophilised pellets with the necessary reagents for successful amplification. For enhanced flexibility, custom designed oligonucleotide primers can be added making LAMP applicable to any field.
Mast’s kits offer additional benefits over traditional PCR technologies. LAMP relies upon the strand displacement activity from a DNA polymerase, which in turn requires no denaturation step allowing the amplification to be performed in equipment capable of maintaining a temperature of 60-65°C. It is less susceptible to inhibitors compared to PCR which negates the need for post extraction purification. Large quantities of nucleic acid can be produced in short reaction times of 15 – 60 minutes and the reaction can be interpreted in real-time with no post-PCR modifications required.
